Introduction

• A brief history of John Lennon’s life, music and vision, culminating in everyone singing John and Yoko’s “Imagine.” 

Teaching Portion

• Define goals and steps for the two-day process
• Define safe, respectable rules for good collaboration
• Show how songs can start with a groove or an idea
• Describe Chorus and Verse (Main Idea and Supportive Details)

Song Writing Part One

• Brainstorm on the song idea
• Identify the main idea (chorus)
• Identify the supportive details (verse)
• Write Lyrics for one verse and the chorus

Review Next Steps

• Add music
• Revise and complete the lyrics
• Practice and record the song
